MDARD and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) are partnering to host an ‘invitation-only’ business to business matchmaking event to grow the food and agribusiness economy in Michigan March 26, 2014, in Lansing.
The event is called Pure Michigan Agriculture Business Connect Summit. The buyers: Meijer, SpartanNash, Kroger, Lipari, US Foods, Whole Foods, Gordon Food Service and Sysco, just to name a few, have submitted needs for Michigan grown and Michigan made products. Those individual needs will be posted to thewww.puremichiganb2b.com/MichiganAg on February 3 (when the URL goes live) and producers and processors can apply for the opportunity to become a supplier. If you are selected as a potential supplier you will be invited to have a meeting with the buyers. Some of the needs submitted center around produce, animal proteins, dairy, bakery items, grocery and confections. This is a great way for us to continue to facilitate matchmaking opportunities for the industry.
There is only a three week window for potential suppliers to get registered, registration deadline is February 26.
MEDC has had great success in the automotive and medical device industry hosting b2b supplier events. If you want to see what the event will look like go towww.puremichiganb2b.com and click on the Ford video. Just replace automotive parts with food and agricultural products and you get the picture!
